Chemical and Environmental Engineering Group

Patricia Pizarro studied Chemical Engineering at Complutense University of Madrid (1994-1998), where she started researching on the synthesis of silicalite-1 membranes. Her PhD was carried out in the Chemical and Environmental Engineering group of Rey Juan Carlos University dealing on the synthesis of mesostructured TiO2 with photocatalytic applications. In 2005 she got the european PhD, which was given the Extraordinary Award by the URJC in 2006. In 2003 she was visiting researher in the “Laboratoire d'application de la chimie a l'environnement”, Lyon, France, under the supervision of Dr. Jean-Marie Herrmann. Her work there dealt with the evaluation of photocatalytic activity of supported TiO2 materials on the degradation of pesticides in water. In 2006 she was a visiting researcher in the “Max-Planck Institute für Kohlenforschung”, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany, under the supervision of Dr. Ferdi Schüth. The research work there was based on the synthesis of mesostructured materials via hard-templating routes. Currently, her research lines are hydrogen production, development of heterogeneous catalysts for different interesting chemical processes and adsorption processes in gaseous phase. Conerning the teaching activity, it has been totally carried out at Rey Juan Carlos University. She started in 2000 as assistant professor and, since 2008, she occupies the associate professor position.
