Irene Villarejo Ávila has graduated in Chemistry from the University of Alcalá (UAH) since 2021. Her final degree project, named Organometallic complexes with N-heterocyclic carbene ligands with carboxylate groups, was carried out within the Dendrocat research group of the Department of Organic Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry of the UAH.
She completed a Master's Degree in Applied Chemistry with the specialty Molecular Chemistry and Materials Chemistry at the Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM). Her final Master's project was carry out in collaboration with the CSIC within the Institute of Ceramics and Glass. This work was based on the synthesis of Core-Shell type materials with photoluminescent and photocatalytic properties.
Since January 2023 she joined the Photoners group within the Chemical and Environmental Technology department of the URJC within the SAFECAT-AGUA project.
