Chemical and Environmental Engineering Group

Carlos Domínguez Vizcaya is Bachelor of Science (Physics) at the Autonomous University of Madrid and PhD at the Rey Juan Carlos University under the PhD program in Chemical Engineering, Environment and Materials. He began his professional career in the Institute for the Structure of Matter which belongs to the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), Department of Macromolecular Physics as responsible for the polymer characterization laboratory in collaboration with Repsol company (1998-2004). Since 2004 he works at Rey Juan Carlos University, Department of Chemical and Energy Technology, being the Polymer Technology Laboratory (LATEP) Manager. The LATEP is a laboratory for the physical-chemical characterization of polymers and the study of their relationship with the molecular structure of the material. The LATEP was set up in 2004 as an agreement between Repsol Technology Centre and the Departments of Environmental and Chemistry Technology, Chemical and Energy Technology, and Material Science and Engineering. During the last years Carlos Domínguez has participated in different research projects in polymer science, being specialized in the characterization of polyolefins and in the failure mechanisms in polyethylene for pipe applications, where is co-author of several publications in international scientific journals. In the same way, he has also attended and actively participated in a high number of national and international conferences.
