Grupo de Ingeniería Química y Ambiental

Licenciado (1972) y Doctor (1976) en Ciencias Químicas (especialidad de Ing. Química) por la UCM (U. Complutense de Madrid). Investigador post-doctoral en el Instituto de Tecnología de Massachusetts (MIT, USA) y Profesor Visitante en la Universidad de California-Santa Barbara (USA). Actualmente, Catedrático de Ingeniería Química en el Departamento de Tecnología Química y Ambiental de la URJC. Delegado del Rector para las Relaciones Universidad-Empresa en la URJC.
Puestos anteriores: Rector-fundador de la URJC (1997-2000), Vice-Rector de Relaciones Internacionales de la UCM. Secretario General de la UCM, Presidente de la ACAP (Agencia de Calidad, Acreditación y Prospectiva de las Universidades de Madrid). Miembro del Consejo de Asesores Internacionales del MIIS (Monterey Institute of International Studies, California, USA).
Co-autor de cinco volumenes del libro de texto de Ingeniería Química (Ed. Alhambra), co-autor y editor del libro de “Introducción a la Ing. Química” (Ed. Síntesis), autor de un considerable número de publicaciones científicas internacionales y co-autor de algunas patentes. Director de mas de veinte Tesis Doctorales. Su actividad docente se desarrolló inicialmente en la UCM (1972-1997) y posteriormente en la URJC (desde 1997 hasta la actualidad).
Lineas actuales de investigación: a) Sintesis de materiales mesoestructurados y aplicaciones a procesos de adsorción y catálisis; b) Producción y almacenamiento de hidrógeno; c) Captura de CO2 por adsorción con materiales mesostructurados modificados; d) Biocombustibles.
Miembro del Consejo Editorial de la revista “Adsorption”(Springer). Miembro de AIChE (American Institute of Chemical Engineers). Medalla de Honor de la Universidad Complutense (1996); Medalla de Honor de la Universidad Rey Juan Carlos (2004).
